Semester of Service is an initiative focused on getting Jags out into the community doing in-person service each semester. Volunteers have a huge impact on the lives of others, and we hope you'll consider sharing your time and talents with our local partners who are working to meet critical community needs. Launching Semester of Service in Spring 2022

The Semester of Service initiative launched in Spring 2022, and University of South Alabama volunteers engaged in a variety of ways.

Day of Caring afforded students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to come together as a Jag family to help local community organizations complete much-needed service projects. They cleaned buses at , wrote encouraging letters to graduating high school seniors in the and programs, and helped sort books at for local families and classrooms.

Jags also used to connect with other volunteer activities throughout the semester. Popular activities included helping beautify and upkeep the ,  tutoring elementary through high school students with , sorting and stocking food at the on-campus , and being a dance partner at .

As the semester concluded, students, faculty, and staff who participated in Semester of Service gathered together to celebrate with an afternoon of games, balloon art, food, music, and more. A short awards ceremony was also held to recognize participating students, organizations, and colleges with the most volunteer service throughout the semester. Congratulations to: Allison Dollus, Sarah Hemelt, Phi Mu, and Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions.
